GeNUA: Enhanced Performance for all Firewalls
New GeNUScreen 700 Achieves Data Throughput in Excess of 2.7 GB/s
Kirchheim near Munich, June 22, 2010. New hardware and intelligent multi-processing accelerates data throughput in GeNUA firewalls: the GeNUScreen 500S firewall and VPN appliance now filters data at 1,800 MB/s and encrypts VPN traffic at 850 MB/s, over and above its predecessor’s rates of 1,250 MB/s and 165 MB/s, respectively. The GeNUScreen 700 model, a new addition to the range designed specifically for high throughput rates, delivers the greatest performance overall at over 2.7 GB/s (firewall) and 1.6 GB/s VPN throughput. The two-tier systems of the GeNUGate model also offer increased performance on the new hardware at up to 1,280 MB/s TCP throughput. All firewalls developed by GeNUA are routinely certified to CC EAL 4+ as verification of their reliable security performance.
Strong performance: The GeNUScreen 700 firewall & VPN appliance
The GeNUScreen firewall and VPN appliance is suitable both for the creation of high-security zones within large networks and for the monitoring of interfaces between local area networks and the Internet. The application can be used internally as a bridging firewall without its own IP address, for instance to create special security zones for sensitive SAP and production servers. Owing to the high throughput rates, delays in data transfer can be disregarded. If GeNUScreen is used at the LAN/Internet interface, the VPN function also enables encrypted connections to other company locations to be established via the Internet. The GeNUScreen firewall and VPN appliance is available in seven hardware versions to address different performance requirements.
Two-Tier Firewall as All-In-One Solution
GeNUGate combines two different firewall systems – an application level gateway and a packet filter – on separate hardware to deliver a finely tuned, all-in-one solution. The application level gateway is the more sophisticated of the two firewall systems and analyzes data content, enabling unwanted content and viruses to be filtered out. The packet filter subsequently checks formal information such as sender address and accessed port number. All data must pass through both firewalls, whose separate authentication mechanisms complement one another. This two-tier monitoring facility sets the GeNUGate apart from many other firewall solutions. The GeNUGate is available in four hardware versions for different performance requirements.
Quality Assurance through CC Certification
GeNUA routinely certifies its firewall products to the strict CC EAL 4+ level as verification of their reliable security performance. This is the highest level that can be comprehensively applied to a sophisticated system such as a firewall. The two-tier GeNUGate firewall has been certificated by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) certification three times. To date, the GeNUScreen solution has twice passed this quality assurance test.
