Unwanted advertising emails. Ingenious profit-seekers sell lists with millions of email addresses, which are then subjected to a barrage of unwanted advertising emails. Usually, what is called a relay is interpolated for sending the emails. These relays are computers on the internet which are inadequately protected against this kind of manipulation. The recipients of these advertising emails see the relay as the sender, and direct their complaints to the computer’s operator. Some network operators check computers on the internet to see whether they can be misused as relays, and shield themselves against any net traffic originating from such computers. So it’s absolutely necessary to design your own internet servers to be relay-proof.
