MIME
Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions. MIME enables you to transmit not only simple text messages by email, for example, but also texts with umlauts, image files, files from application programs, etc. MIME is utilized by various standards for transmitting encrypted email (PGP, S-MIME). The MIME attachments with application data may, however, constitute risks as well (see Attachments).
