DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service)
Variant of DOS attacks, using special programs such as Stacheldraht (Barbed Wire). The program starts by seeking out a series of computers on the internet and installing there (exploiting security gaps) programs which after receiving a signal from the attacker will target the victim with a bombardment of network packages or inquiries for WWW sites. Since the attack originates from many different computers, it is difficult to detect and almost impossible to counter.
