German Federal Office for the Security of Information Technology (Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik). The BSI’s remit includes drawing up guidelines for information security, and providing a series of important publications, like the Grundschutzhandbuch (Basic Protection Manual). In addition, the BSI maintains mailing lists on security-relevant issues, and is responsible for certification procedures under various standards (e.g. Common Criteria or ITSEC). On the BSI’s website you will find a lot of useful information regarding IT security.
