DMZ (Demilitarized Zone)
A network segment which is located between the Internet and the LAN. It is insulated by a firewall from the Internet. This arrangement ensures, that the LAN of the company stays hidden behind the firewall, while clients from the Internet access the DMZ. Usually, the DMZ is the common place for the webserver.
