Verification of checksums

On a unix system You can verify the checksums of the CD as follows:

  • Look at the checksums at the GeNUA webserver.
  • Mount the GeNUCenter installation CD (e.g. to /cdrom)
  • Generate the checksums of the installation packages on the CD, with OpenBSD as follows:
      openssl dgst -md5 /cdrom/bsd
      openssl dgst -sha1 /cdrom/bsd
      openssl dgst -ripemd160 /cdrom/bsd

  • Verify checksums: Then compare this received checksum of the installation packages with the checksum on the GeNUA server. If the checksums are equal, the integrity is warranted. If they differ, the support can help You.

On Windows systemes, the MD5 checksum can be checked using the free available tool File Checksum Integrity Verifier (FCIV) utility The free plattform independend tool Jacksum (JAva ChecKSUM) can verify MD5, SHA1 and RIPEMD-160 checksums.
